Performer

Ilya plays the contrabass (and bass guitar) and specializes in improvisation and experimental music. He enjoys exploring different performance situations, including free improvisation and interpretation of notated works. He is often performing his own works which feature a hybrid of improvisation, notation, and live-electronics systems.

 

He had the chance to perform works by Heiner Goebbels, Agostino di Scipio, Amnon Wolman, Richard Rijnvos, Peter Schat, Christian Wolff, and others. Together with Elisenda Pujals (voice) he had performed duo works by composers such as Silvia Borzelli, Ruben Seroussi, Lula Romero, Janco Verduin, and Ophir Ilzetzki. As a member of the group Hatzatz he had performed concerts featuring bass, viola, electronics, and live video art.

 

He had the chance to perform in venues such as the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Amsterdam), LantarenVenster (Rotterdam), Acker Stadt Palast (Berlin), haTeiva (Tel Aviv), Auditorium Vila-Seca (Catalonia), and in festivals such as stateXnew festival (The Hague), La Escucha Errante sonic arts festival (Bilbao), and Sonic Arts Series (Norwich), among others.
